Reflecting on Communication in the Early Childhood Field
The last past eight weeks has been a pleasant experience in learning new skills, different ideas , strategies  materials and how to effective communicate and collaborate with others. I myself learned from my entire classmate and bonded with this wonderful group and professor who I hate to leave this class, I have learned so much how to work together effectively and have effective communication with co – workers and families. The most amazing thing personally was to learn about my own communication style and the effect that it had on others was astonished. I like the simple fact now that I know my communication style as an educator and parent I can now make sure that I use different strategies to help me improve my communication skills when working with children and their families. As I stated above these last past  8 week have being very interesting and I never would had known how  to effectively communication with others. I am planning to continue to read all my resources and book to help me to improve and help others improve in his/her communication skills through modeling what I have learned in this particular class especially watching those educate video help me to have a better clarity of communication styles and I learned that we all communicate differently.

As an educator and student I would like to take this time to thank my wonderful professor who had being very encouraging, positive and direct with me to continue on my journey in the field of early childhood. I would like to thank this awesome class who had being very supportive as well and very genuine with their positive feedback they share over these lasted 8 weeks.  I have learned so much insight from my peers on how to better communicate effectively with others and how to handle conflict in a most effective way. All this information I learned in this class and from my peers will help me because I am planning to open up my own child care soon. This information will be a great benefit to me and my staff, children and their family.
I want to thank all my classmates and Dr. Parrish who has supports all of us in every way she knew how to make this journey for all of us successful. I want to wish everyone the best as we go our separate ways and continue to keep your head up because the best is yet to come for all of us and that is completing these last couple of classes to get our Master Degree. As we take our specialization course I am looking forward to learn just as much as I learned from my core course. I would like to stay in contact with all of you and especially the people who are in the Administration, Management & Leadership program please live your name and information  and you can always reach me at Walden email temika.mcaann@waldenu.edu.
Have a bless Christmas and a happy new year!

                         The Adjourning Phase

Week 6

I feel as student and educator that adjourning phases of a team is very key and help a group come together on one accord to make sure everything is in place for closure of a significant project (Adubi, 2010).  I truly believe that every group that we had every engage in has an adjourning phase The Phase can be view in various way and have different perceptive. I feel that some group we might be on might have feelings when it is time to say good bye while others may careless and just do not have anything to say to the group as it in. I remember working in a group and I really like all the peers, but how I felt about them they did not feel that way about me as the group ended.  I was in that group for about 10 weeks.  We did have a have a nice party and we all sat around and talk about how we enjoy the class. I still stay in touch with one of my classmate we talk on the phone from time to time by the way; I spoke with her on yesterday. We are planning to have lunch with each other soon.
At the end of this class who, I will miss dearly and Dr.Parrish who have being a great support to all of us here at Walden University, I pray that I can stay in contact with all of you and I would like to know how can I stay in contact with you guys maybe we can email each other from time to time does anyone know there graduation date that may be a good idea so if we do graduate at the same time we will have a chance to meet each other. After learning about adjourning I have discover that is the key of bringing positive closure and to help close any gapes that is open.

                                    Disagreements, or Conflicts

  • On last week I had a disagreement with one of my family member concerning her child grades in school. I was sharing with her that it is not ok for Malaya to keep getting behind in her class work. My cousin Brionna was very upset with me.I shared with her how difficult it can be being as a single mom, but it vital that Malaya catch up with her reading assignments as well. Over the last pass week I have learn how to communicate more effectively with others. The two strategies that, I have learn that would help me manage and resolve this conflict in a more productively and optimistic way. I feel that the R’s help me in a significant way first you have to make sure when you are communicating with others it should always be mutual respect between the communicators and race, religion and personal beliefs should always be respect whether it is on a personal or a professional level. The second strategy, I would create a human positive connection between the person that I am communicating with and show them respect, compassion and empathy of what they might be dealing with and I am willing to compromise if all necessary mean to resolve any conflict in a respectable matter. I feel when people communicate with one another I believe to treat others the way they wish to be treated, effective communication succeeds
  • I would like for one or two colleagues to share with me how have you learned to be more of a effective communicator as it relates to issues and conflict that we all deal with on a daily basis and what are some of the skills you have learn in this class to help you to resolve these issues in a positive way. I will wait for your reply.

                                                     Communication Skills

The blog for this  assignment  this week was  very interested, I asked my mother and best friend to evaluate my verbal aggressiveness, and listening styles and skills during communication. The evaluations I conduct about my own self and how my mother and best friend I was surprise the feedback I got. I thought I was doing fine with my communication skills, but after the evaluation I saw that I do need to improve something. I feel that the way others observe us is also imperative than what we want to see for what we think it should be. I amazed of how my mother perceive me as her daughter has been easy going. I was shock with my best friend respond she said sometime I can come off to aggressive.

I feel my mother look at me from a mother perspective and she problem was basing her answer as what she see me doing on a day to day. I was amaze of the outcome of how both perceive me. I feel that  I can be perceive to be a little different when working with children and families and my true personality  of how  I am assuming this is so because, I am more comfortable with my family and they may see my real personality. I think if my friends from school would have done this assignment they would see me different from how my best friend is doing. After talking to my best friend she said to me that she noticed that my communication skills and tone down my voice need to decreases when I am communicating with other. I noticed that they both had a different way to perceive me. I think because one was from my mom point of view and one is from my best friend.

After the evaluation from my mom and my best friends, I was shock how they both observe me and how I observe myself. I thought the relationship we had; I thought that my best friend would have look at me from a different point of view. This assignment was very informative and I gained so much about how I can improve my relationships with others in a more mutual and respectful way. I am now able to work on and correct the way I communicate with others for now on.

Communication Styles With Other Groups of People

I myself feel like when I am around other group of individual who might be different from me. I feel that I do communicate differently. If I am talking to family and friends, I feel free and talk a little ghetto. That because I am more comfortable with them. When conversation with a friends and family, you are able to express your true self when you are with them on a continue basis. I also feel you can really express how you really feel when you are in a deep personal conversation with them. I feel when I am with my family and friend I can really be transparent with them when it comes to different topics whether it is personal or professional.

If I am speaking to a boss, parent and peers, I act different I will not speak to my peers, boss and parent using ghetto language, I will be more conservative and professional. I will make sure I am speaking with clarity and respectful. If I speaking with my boss I will make sure I am carefully choosing the correct word and the tone which I am speaking in when talking to him/her. If I was speaking to my peers I will make sure I am using correct grammar and make sure they understand me clearly.   When I speak with my children and families I will be very respectful and ask them how your day was going.  If their child was not having a good day, I will be very careful how I would say certain thing when  approaching the child parent about any issue that nay have occurred that day. I will always make sure I am aware of the child and family and make sure that I am not being bias regardless of race, gender and religion. If people who are from another culture, I will find out how that particular culture communicate so I can make him/her feel more at easy. I will also be careful in choosing my words so I want make anyone feel embarrass because each culture communicate differently. For example, I had a Korean friend and he shared with me when his wife is around make sure that, I am not saying a certain word because if I say it and she hear me she might think we are dating, I was like WOW!. I feel it is very vital that we are being caution especially when people our from other culture than us.

I feel as an educator when I am communicating with a parent or his/her family. If any issues occur that day I will ask is there anything we can do as a team so that these issues will not happen again.  I feel if something needs to be said I will make sure that no one would be around, but me in the child and parents. I feel that when I talking to parents I have to make sure I am respecting all culture regardless of race, gender and religion. Over all we communicate very different when we with others who may be different from us we have to make sure rather they our parents, peers and studentship our all being treat with dignity.

TV Show Observation Sound On and Off

I have never watched preacher of La before, but I always was curious what the show was all about. As a result I choose this show for my blog this week. What I perceive with the sound off the show seems lively, individuals are smiling and laughing it seems to me that they are having a good time. Show consists of Preachers of LA," the faith-based reality show that sparked controversy and critical debate. The show also allow preacher to be open and transparent with each other’s. The show tells how preachers and their family live outside of the church. There was a lot of enjoyment, face expressions and some nonverbal communication going on. I also noticed that some pastors were looking very serious and some was happy engage in a conversation for example Noel Jones and his friend Desire seem very much happy with each other. Some preachers and wife in the show look very serious and some was smiling and some even showed some angry. This show to me showed a lot of serious emotion. As I was observing the individual, I was not too sure of some of the body language, but I was able to see a lot of facial expression and smiling that was going on a lot in the show.

After truing up the TV sound and what I observe about the individual in the show, I was accurate about what I was observing with the TV sound down. I was correct to see several individual in the show happy the first one was bishop Noel Jones seem to be the one who was happy when he was talking to Desire in the show. I   anticipated that the woman was smiling with Bishop she like him and it turn out to be correct of what I was observing.   I was amazed of myself after watching this couple and to discover that I was correct was awesome.  Watching the individual face expression let me realize how vital it is to pay attention when we our engage into a dialogue with others and it let me know also how a person might be feeling. I also  realize that face expression can tell you a lot about how other are seeing thing from his/her perception.

I realize with some of the  assumptions that I made was correct, but if I would have watch the show more often, I think I could give a more precise decision on all the individuals who played a significant role in the show. Overall I still think I did a good job especially when, I observed the individual would definitely would be more correct had I known the show and the role of  each characters because I would understand them much better and place their actions and roles into place. I also learned that when you are able to hear individual talking in a show you can be able to really make a accurate assumption about each individual. I learned so much from this week blog and I gained so much insight that will help me be more aware when communicating with others on a daily basis.

                                                   EDUC 6165 - Effective Communication

I have had the honor of listening to my uncle who is a Legend in his own rights as a ministry and have travel around the world.  My uncle has impact many lives and still is doing so currently. He has supported me and encourages me in my walk with the Lord this is an awesome man of god. He has a unique way to convey his message. He has an awesome way of inspiring his congregation. What I like about my uncle before he speaks he has a great sense of humor to grasp his congregation attention. One thing I admire about my uncle is when he is communicating with his congregation he have very good eye contact regardless of how small the crow is and how large. When my uncle prepared for his message he uses a note pad to keep him on track as he minister to his congregation. I noticed when my uncle speak he have a very strong firm voice to get the attention of anyone who is present in his congregation. I also was able to witness and feel his love and sincerity that he had for the people in his congregation. I also notice when my uncle was preaching he had such a joy on his face that it manifested through him as he was preaching.

I would love to be able to travel around the world to impact lives like my uncle did. My uncle spoke at many churches throughout his life. When my uncle is ministering the word of God he has the ability to keep the people in his congregation focus and keep their attention in a unique way. His patience and kindness helps him be a great effective communicator and influence. In his message you can tell he preach and walk in what he believes in the way he convey his message and he love sharing his message with visitors and friends. I love how to learn from my uncle an how to be an effective communicator when I am ministering to others. I feel this will be very rewarding as I continue my journey.

As an educator one of my desire is to see all children will be respected regardless of his/her color, race, religion, gender and belief.  I would like to see bias be dispelled from our early childhood program so we can work together and do what best for each child that we come across on a daily basis. I would like to see educators must explore historical and contemporary family struggles and be able to respect each child and their families regardless of his/her back ground. Harvard Family Research Project. (2003).
The one goal that I would like to see as an educator is to be the best role model in front of children and to be able to embrace all culture who I encounter on a day to day basis. I would like to see all culture come together and work together in unity and respect each other for who they are regardless of race, color, gender and religion. According to Dr.Sue he stated in the video that we have to always be mindful of how we approach others from different culture.

A brief note of thanks to your colleagues – I like to thank all of my colleagues who have encouraged me and supported me over these last 8 weeks. You shared vital information and inspiring posts and feedback which helped make this class exciting.  I would also like to thank you for your constructive feedback which will help me to continue my journey in education. I wish you all the best of luck as you move forward to your next class. I pray that all you have a bless successful year as you continue your journey in early childhood. Have a great week!

Welcoming Families From Around the World
6164 -1

Ever since, I was a young girl I always wanted to learn about the country Japan and visit that country one of these days. As an educator there are several ways, I would prepare myself for culturally responsive towards families from the. After during a little research, I have discover about the country of Japan and the ways, I will prepare myself as an educator for culturally responsively by, First, I can prepare myself to be culturally responsive towards this family and make sure I learn the appropriate when greeting these parents. Secondly, I can prepare myself to be culturally responsive towards the family by ask parent open – ended questions. For example, is there a particular way that your child learns would your share it with me so I can better help your child to succeed?  Thirdly, I can prepare myself to be culturally responsive by learning different teaching strategies to help each child succeed and reach his/her full potential. Fourthly, I can prepare myself to be culturally responsive by learning more about the family beliefs, traditions and values. As an educator, I will make sure that I will understand the culture values and traditions in ways families celebrate holidays. Last, but not least, I can prepare myself as an educator to be culturally responsive towards this family by having a potluck  once a month focusing on different cultures. This will help children to learn about different culture’s food, belief and values. Visiting library and communities that participate in the cultural life of children and family and I will also read book about hat country to better understand the child and family.
A brief statement describing in what ways you hope that these preparations will benefit both you and the family. I feel this preparation will benefit me by teaching me about different cultures.  In turn, I will be able to acknowledge multiple equity pedagogies in order to permeate justice and equity for all. According to Hyland (2010) these preparations will benefit educator, children and families by assisting parents grow the vital skills essential to engage children in discussions concerning injustice. According to Hyland (2010) educators and parents can assistance children discard stereotypes that marginalize specific communities that are strictly based on gender, ethnicity, culture, and sexual orientation. I will also make sure I am showing respect to the families always.

The Personal Side of Bias, Prejudice, and Oppression

I am an African American woman and have experienced much prejudice in the work place. I felt that other color was giving more opportunity at my preschool jobs. The  director I will call her Ms. Tosa will always let other teacher take longer break and time off from work , but when it came to me I will always get the running around or she will say “ I not able to let you have this week off because , I need you to cover a certain class this week” but she would never ask the other teachers. I remember one time I was a 1 second over and she went crazy. But when other teacher was late or took a longer break nothing would be said.. Many times, Caucasians was allowed to take time off with ,but when it came to me there was always an excuse why I was not able to take days off. It was very irritating.  My director did not have any problem changing the schedule around when it came to certain teachers, but when it came to me I would always get the attitude.

This  made it really hard for me to perform my job duties never neglecting or abuse or rude to parent and children but had a hard time trust the team around me because they would allow people  of other color to take off, but when it came to me I am a black person it would always be a problem. A couple of times, I felt like leaving. but I really enjoyed working with the co - teacher in my class and of course the children and families.  When I would decide to take time off, I would put my notice in one week before and Ms.Tosa said she did not have anyone to fill my spot, but this one particular teacher   from another class I will call her Rosa put in her request the same time, I did and was approved.  I felt like just because, I was the only black there and I felt like I was being discrating against due to my color.  According to Dr. Sue I feel we should all be respected and treated fairly in the work environment regardless of race, belief, religion or gender. On one hand, I was upset and on the other hand, I was glad it happened to me so I could learn  from this situation on how  I can make sure when I get my child care center , I will not treat my  staff that way. I will make sure I am making every race feel comfortable

I became very angry on several occasions and on top of that I had three miscarriages I was dealing with at the time of going through all these issues at work and that did not. I felt like I was not being appreciated and having to make special arrangements to go to my doctor appointments. These issues at work did not make me feel any better, but I learned how to manage the abuse. I felt I was not important, embarrassed and shameful. As a floater, I felt that I always had to pick up the slack.  I felt like I was really being taking advantage of.  I will never treat anyone this way and the director needs to make sure that she is being fair across the board.

Practicing Awareness of Micro-aggression
Temika McCann
6164 - 1

I am so enthusiastic about this week blog the new insight I have learned about over these last 4 week. That I have as an educator I am so interested to learn about Micro-aggression. According to Dr. Sue Laureate, 2011) he said, that Micro- aggression's exist in everyday humiliations and disgrace that are oral behavioral. However, they may well exist not deliberately interconnected they cause external hurt and extreme pain if the message contained in offensive.  It allows you to personally own your understandings and capabilities. I had known idea of these terms and if I was setting in a setting amongst a group of people I would not have any idea what he/she might be talking about. I am so glad that and happy about this class. It has taught me so much and now I feel empower and will be able to share this vital information with coworker and families.

Last week I had an important phone call with my daughter principle and I was talking with Ms. Jay about an incident that occurred at my daughter school. I had to hurry to finish the phone call because I had another call that was coming in. I said, Ms. Jay I have another call that coming in that is long distance can I give you a call back in 30 minutes. She asked “why do you need to answer that call if you are on the phone with me.” I try explained to her it was a very vital call that I must answer she insist on talking after, I was very polite with her.  Ms. Jay was trying to over throw my conversation, by demanding me to continue to talk with her. I was going to drive to get there, so I told him and immediately he went into redirecting me to another route. I agree with Ms. Jay I very much of being on the phone with you , but you have to realize and take into consideration that I have another call coming in and as soon as I am done I will give you a call back. Ms. Jay was very rude a very impolite, I totally feel she invalidated what was significant toward me. I also felt like my  decision and phone call was not important to her and that if I was to continue to stay on the phone with her she would have being fine and the other phone call was not that important how  rude.

When I recognized as a person who was a victim of a micro aggression, I step out of character by not being aware of theirs and their beliefs I felt I was a little rude and upset. I started to do something that I might regret later and I want to say something that might not came out so good so , I held my peace, I don’t consider what I did was  on purpose, but I should had thought about it first and be more aware of other values and tradition.  According to Dr Sue (Laureate Education 2011) said that undoing come about day in and day out without a person being aware of the other persons or group of people.  I had a coworker who was a control person in the classroom want to control everything and everybody so I have always being the bigger person and played follow the leader to have a peaceful time within the environment and classroom I work in.
I always try to be mindful when I am interacting with children, friends, coworker and families. It is very important to me as a mom and educator how we want to be treated we have to make sure we our treating others that way. The motto my mom always say do unto others that you will have them to do unto you. If you don’t want anyone to be rude towards you don’t be rude towards them. Overall for these last 4 weeks this information and knowledge I have gained from this class and professor has help me to understand people much better and always respect people for who they are. Regardless of race, gender and belief. I also know that looking down on others because we are all different is very rude, harmful and leave deep pain to others.

Perspectives on Diversity and Culture
Week - 3
Despite the fact diversity and culture is very significant , we are looking  at other people from all walks of life and race  in different ways , but respect each individual for who he/she are. This week I was so excited to hear what other had to say about diversity and culture. I  had a chance to speak with people I had not heard from in  a while and to hear from them and to share my assignment together was cool! I was glad to connect with them and to find out what was their thoughts on diversity and culture, I learned a lot from each person.

The first person, I spoke with was my cousin he specified that culture was shared beliefs and values of group: the beliefs, customs, practices, and social behavior. Individuals who bring unique perspectives or outlooks to the organization. In general diverse means variety a diverse community is different people living in one or different kind of community. They may be different because of their gender, social class, upbringing, culture and religion. The second, person said that culture was a way a person live hid/her life and diversity was a celebrate different time of the year. Thirdly, I spoke with an acquaintances stated that culture was traditions, values and a person beliefs.

I really enjoyed this blog on this week. I gained so much insight about how each person shared what culture and diversity means to them from personal perspective learning from all these wonderful people just make me appreciate and respect each person for who they are and that we all are different and unique in our on ways. I learned that everyone express their self in a unique way and that what make the world a rainbow.

I did  learned  this week  that majority  people’s definitions for culture was what I learned growing up and the article and the reading  that I readied  over these last couple of weeks was amazing to hear it again through the people I interview this week.  The family and friends that, I interview on this week was not aware of dominant culture, I got a chance to share what dominant culture was and they were blown away!   According to Derman-Sparks and Edwards, (2010) said, that dominant culture is not necessarily or always mean the culture of the majority rather it is the culture of the people who hold social and political. They were astonished with the answer.

As I look at culture and I had gained so much insight that have open my mind on a whole different level, I learned this week not to judge a book by its cover. After this week what I found what culture is it has a lot to do with who a person is when he or she is around family or friends that should and need to to feel accepted by all regardless of race, color, belief  and religion . According to Dr. Gonzalez (2011) she stated in the video that a person should be able to be themselves around family and friends that what define true culture.

Blog: My Family Culture
Temika Mccann
( 6164)
The reason I chose these three items is because my granddaddy and grandmother made these items by hand. She and my grandfather took turn making these items my granddaddy was 76 years of age and my grandmother was 73 when they made these items by hand they work as a team and that what made these items unique and valuable. I remember my grandparents just like it was yesterday. My mom shared with me as I got older  she told me that she made those items because they wanted my mom to share it with her children when we became a certain age to where we could really understand the meaning behind it. I thought that was amazing to know that. I really treasure these items and hold them deep to my heart.  The design in these items reflects the southern culture and I was astonished. And these items bring so many memories just as if they just gave it to me and my family yesterday. The reason I chose to take those items because religious has always been a first priority in my family culture. Just to know that my grandmother made a handmade bible cover is so thoughtful and something for me to cherished as I put my bible inside of it. I would take the blanket because every time, I cover up with it will remind me of my grandparents and how they cover up with it when I use to go visit them. Lastly I would bring with me my outfit. Our culture enjoyed making clothes and was very creative with the designs and I would cherished the outfit knowing that it was handmade makes it very meaningful to me. As I arrive at my destination if I had a chose to take one of my items my grandparent made me I will take the bible cover with me. The  bible cover mean so much to me than the other two items because it will let me know and remind me that God is always with me no matter what battle I may be in he is in the midst. I will hold this bible cove deep and dearly to my heart. Overall this was a vital topic and I am so glad to be able to shares with Dr. Parrish and my classmates. This assignment have really open my mind how little things can be yet so meaningful to a person and their family culture life.
Have a wonderful week Dr.Parrish and Everyone!

This assignment have really open my mind  and eyes an let me know not to despise the small things an how little things can be yet so meaningful to a person and their family culture life, I feel is awesome!

When I think of Research
As an educator when I think of research, I used to think it was boring but after taking this class I now have a better understanding and I now know how vital it is. Over the last 8 weeks I have learned so much from the class mates and Dr Kien who is an awesome teacher that really cares about her student education.  I have increased and grow in a way that it will be helpful to me and my families that I work with.  I learned the fairness that we need to have when conducting research on children and families. I now have a new outlook on the way that I look at research and I realize that research as to be authentic and valid.

During these last 8 weeks I learned that there are several ways and methods of research. For example triangulation, mixed methods an quantitative and qualitative methods.  I now have a greater understanding about research that will help me on my journey as I continue in the field of early child development. After taking this class I was able to learn that through mixed method you would want to include independent variables dependent to help make the study reliable. I also learned how to make up question about your research and also how to create hypothesis. Research is still fresh and I still have my obstacle that I have to deal with but I am more comfortable than I was when I first started.

As an educator I now look at planning designing, and conducting study I know there is a lot more I need to learn but I feel that I am headed in the correct direction after taking this class.  I feel when planning, making sure as educator we have the current and up to date information that we need when conducting a study and we have to make sure always that our information is valid. It is also very imperative as educators that we our making sure that the participating information is vital and will have a huge impact on a study with their feedback. As you design the study we have to make sure that the study stay fair and make sure that all participant our treated with dignity.

After taking this course has change how I look a research and I learned the importance of research to the field of early childhood field.  This class has been a eye opener and I am so glad to have had the awesome teacher to help me understand this class the way I do Dr. Kien really opened my eyes as well with the passion she have for research has been very inspiring to me .to the deficit model in research and how we should not use one statement of one group and apply them to other groups. According to  Mac Naughton, G., Rolfe, S.A., & Siraj-Blatchford, I. (2010) said , it is vital how we look at research and we have to make sure that we are respecting participants and children as we conduct our research.

Over all this class has really motivated me to learn more about research and I was scared at first full of fear but I now have a better understanding how research work and the importance of research in earl childhood. I learned about a variety of tools and methods and how to read research on a higher level and help me to find valid and creditable information to help guide me when looking for specific information on  early childhood topics.  As an educator I would like to take this time to thank all of you guys for your feedback, comment and advice. I really enjoyed this class and this class would not be the way it is without the awesome teacher we had Dr. Kien rocks!

Research around the World on an International Level
I have chosen to focus my attention on Australia as I have a very strong interest in their early childhood program and very curious how they tend to run and operate their programs and see if their is some similarity and difference and anything eles I find that catch my eyes. I noticed that some of the issues that this educator struggled with were also a concern that is heavy on my heart. They have had some huge concerns about more than a few investigations all resources on the Learning are produced by experienced professionals in early childhood and related fields. Our quality assurance process means that each resource is independently reviewed before being published. main concern is to make sure that each child is receiving the necessary, affordable and quality education as well as satisfying the families. I found out there are concerns regarding the budgeting and resources for the children and their families.
After carefully exploring this site I have discovered this organizations similar to National association  for young children , which is one of the leading, nationwide resources for early childhood that has great resources to offer to children, parents and educators. Their websites offer information to educators and families.  The institutions also value Integrity, Collaboration and maintain respectful and trusting relationships with others to support the achievement of positive outcomes for children and their families. I was inspired that they value and promote acceptance of diversity in our work and that of the broader community.
After exploring this website I can truly can say that our similarities surprised me, but I did find one difference that I would like to mention.  It seems to me that in Australia I thought that was very different from the US. I am not that aware of how the procedures and the history of Australia, but as I continue to explore more I will share with you more as I continue to do more research.  I am appreciative that organizations with the purpose of improving early childhood conditions exist worldwide.  I feel as an educator it will be through the worldwide group effort, net working with other early educators and media to continue to help and assist these children and families to become successful. That’s why research is so vital in the field of early childhood. I am so glad to be a part of this great movement.

Blog Assignment: Research that Benefits Children and Families—Uplifting Stories

After working in the field of early childhood over twenty plus years, I had a chance to experience to working with families who have children with special needs.  For example,  down syndrome, William syndrome and children with mental challenges. I have come to realized that research plays a significant part when it comes to the field of child development. As the early childhood carry on  and progress, experts essential be situated  and able to get the necessary information and be able to seek verified involvement ways and means on behalf of the different children.  As a state preschool teacher, I found involve with early intervention programs; in the early childhood. This expert make known to I myself in the direction of quite a lot of procedures. I noticed that the researcher support children development growth and I found out through the study. With Williams’s syndrome children and during my time spent with working with these diverse children and their families has significant impact on families. I have discovered that DIR-Floor time has been showed in more than a few out of countries and the impact it has on a child emotionally. That why I feel that research has a vital part in the field of early childhood and is very useful to educators to be able to stay current and up – dated to help the children. . With a therapy such as this,  it is essential that research continues in order to share the findings of either the success or challengers of the therapy so that more families will be able to utilize it.

My Personal Research Journey

Temika McCann

During this journey, I am going to study this topic, “How negative environment effect a child cortisol level in their child care environment” There are many reasons why I choose to learn more about how negative environment effect child cortisol in the child classroom environment. I feel this get overlook in child care programs, as an educator, I feel that children who are in a negative a stressful environment impact how they will continue to succeed. I have always being concern about these issues because educators do not realize the significant role they play in these children lives.  I work as a sub so I got a chance to see a lot and my concern was teacher was not getting along with each other’s so the atmosphere in the classroom sometime brought tension among the children and teacher because they had issues. I feel that every director need to make sure that children teachers are having a healthy relationship and that they are able to work their issues out in a positive way so the child will be able to reaches his/her full potential.

I myself was very nervous and excited at the same time. When I found out my next class will be on research the first thing came to my mind how will, I get through this class. On the other hand, I am starting to realized, I have to pass this class and with Dr. Kien support and her caring heart towards her students have allowed me to put my fears behind. I never took a research class on this level and I am excited that I get to learn what quality research paper should look like. I will have a chance to help the people I work with on a daily basis and share my experience and knowledge I have gained from this course. I cannot leave out these awesome classmates, I have that being very supportive to me in the past and now, I am grateful for them as well.  I have learned so much in the lasted two week and cannot wait to see what week three will be like. I feel the more confidence I have in myself the better I will do in the class over all If you have some ideas to help me along the way. I will greatly appreciate. Have a bless week.

Blog 8 Assignment

During this these last 8 weeks, I have had the chance to learn about the field of early childhood education and care in other countries.  This knowledge came through reading the blogs of my peers and analyzing practical websites.  There are three consequences of learning about the world-wide early childhood field: I learned not only how educator in my states handle and deal with issues of trend in the field of early child hood , but had a chance to view it on a international which made it more inspiring. I had discover as an educator When an issue or trend has been identified it can be very effective to research other countries who have had a similar issue.  I have learned the importance of Research and how it can be done to compare our identified issue/trend to another country‘s issue/trend and learn about their solution or proactive approach.

The internet makes available an excess of information on educators EC programs, EC education, and EC initiatives.  As an educator leaders who are leading the research, programs, and initiatives are from all over the world who can be contacted through email, mail, or phone which it make it very easy for educators to have a dialogue with other educator in other countries and we can help to support them as well through a varieties of methods. For example. Email, text newsletters websites and so on.  The internet provides communication opportunities with professionals in the EC field need to continue in their journey of early child hood.

After having this opportunity in this class to studying international EC programs and initiatives stirs passion and ignites innovation.  For my personal development, I have found learning about the international EC community an opportunity to enhance my career and help support my children and their families to be successful. I look for international programs and initiatives that inspire an continue to stay current in my field to better serve my children and to help them to reach their full potential in any way that I can.

Future Goal:
The goal as an educator goal for the field related to international awareness of issues and trends and the spirit of collegial relations have inspired and motivate to do all that I can to help these families be successful and make sure that I am helping these families to get the resource and tolls that need to be successful in helping their child succeed in school. The international EC community will increase awareness of issues and trends through consistent, open communication. I have discovered that communication can take place through many ways email, blogs, and informative websites. Educators and EC leaders and professionals throughout the world will use this internet to communicate issues and trends and most highly the taking the initiative methods to achieve high-quality care and education of the worlds of children.

Overall it is significant to continue learning from others, as you mention in your blog this week. If we are open to others ideas, as they have dealt with issues and fairness in the field, we can learn from them and gain new insights for our implementation. I like to thank Dr. Pickens and my classmates for such a clear statement of the consequences of learning about the international early childhood community. We should and do learn from each other and with each other when we communicate freely and openly. The research and revolutions will help us all. Have a bless summer as you continue your path in EC

Temika McCann
The first article that I look at for this week was very informative “Early Childhood Care and Education” What I have learned from this article the importance of brain development in young children. During these years this a very important time and this is where the foundation start. After reading this article it is very vital that educators realize the importance for preceding learning and development. I found out through reading this article how UNESCO advocates for Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) programmers that attend to health, nutrition, security and learning and which provide for children’s holistic development. I also discover that It organized the first World Conference on ECCE in September 2010, which culminated in the adoption of a global action agenda for ECCE called Moscow Framework for Action and Cooperation: Harnessing the Wealth of Nations. I found out how this organization work  in partnership with Member States, partners and other shareholders to encourage suitable and effective putting into practice of the Moscow Framework as a result that the whole thing young children develop their potential to the completest.
The second article really caught my attention Big Push workshop to accelerate early childhood care and education in Africa”  I gain new insight Among the 19 African countries that have joined the Big Push Initiative to accelerate Education for All, four countries have chosen to focus on boosting early childhood care and education (ECCE). I really enjoyed reading this article it was very insightful Africa is a country that, I am very compassionate about and I am so happy to know about this big push workshop to accelerate early childhood in Africa.  I have also gained insight also  that "Today we know from evidence that the type of ECCE programmed currently being operated in many African settings is neglecting the cultural values and practices of their societies," This article have open my eyes and now I have realizes as an educator how vital this push is and the benefit that all these countries and children can benefit.

Thirdly. What are the three most important skills a child should learn? This is something that every educator need to make sure that they need to know the skills for our children to succeed and what I have learned about this article the important skills for children to know in oreder to be successful in school. According to UNESCO Bangkok Director, Gwang-Jo Kim, said in his recent interview: “One of the greatest challenges for education systems today is keeping pace with a changing world of work and equipping youth with the skills they will need in an increasingly knowledge-based economy. I agree with him because the world is changing so fast and things our moving quickly and so many new ideas, adapt to new realities and maintain a sense of curiosity throughout learning, I have discover and have gained insight that the UNESCO commissioned 2012 Education for All Global Monitoring Report, which focuses specifically on the issue, noting that the challenge of ensuring all young people have the opportunity to acquire the skills they need has sharpened acutely since the year 2000. I have found after reading these articles what skills our most important? What skills should we all be learning today? According to Govind Singh, Council of Pacific Education, Fiji “For a child to work across a huge spectrum of life, they will need life skills, core values and the opportunity to unlock the treasure within.” And also Vutha Lay, NGO Education Partnership, Cambodia “They need soft skills to be good citizens, vocational skills for employment and basic education to equip them with knowledge.” Overall these article have being very informative and  am so grateful that I now have information that I can share with families that I work with and my co workers to informe them with all these new changes that is taking place.
